Processes & Tools : Laser Processing

AEi utilizes laser processing to perform a variety of manufacturing operations in many of our flexible automation solutions. This includes precision laser welding, laser cutting, laser drilling and laser marking. AEi laser processing typically uses machine vision for laser positioning during processing to compensate for variations in product tolerances. It can also be used to inspect product before and after processing.

We do not limit our solutions to just one type of laser from a few manufacturers in our laser processing systems. We utilize YAG lasers, CO2 lasers, excimer lasers, fiber lasers, and other types of lasers from several manufacturers. This allows AEi to select the right type and model of laser and features, such as the optimal power level, beam size, and wavelength, to best meet the needs of different applications.

Automated laser processing with vision guidance is highly precise and repeatable in terms of positioning of the processing. This produces better performance and yield of manufactured products. Cycle time is also generally faster. AEi’s FlexAuto control software supports easy configuration of different laser processing patterns and styles without the need for any programming.
