LOCAL EXECUTIVE TACKLES UK'S THREE PEAK CHALLENGE
AEi COO to Climb UK's Three Highest Mountains in 24 Hours for Charity
Wilmington, MA - May 28, 2008 -- Automation Engineering Inc. (AEi) COO Justin Roe is in training to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in just 24 hours to raise money for the Red Cross. The National Three Peaks Challenge is a mountain endurance challenge in Great Britain in which participants attempt to climb the highest peaks of each of the island's three countries. AEi is the lead sponsor of the team.
According to Roe, "I'll be part of a team of nine making the attempt in early July. I'm training seriously so I can complete the challenge and raise the money for the Red Cross. I've been training with my elder daughter for moral support and motivation and now she has also volunteered to be part of the team taking on the challenge."
The three mountains that make up the challenge, from highest to lowest elevation, are Ben Nevis in Scotland (4410 feet), Snowdon in Wales (3560 feet), and Scafell Pike in England (3210 feet). In all, the challenge involves some 26 miles of climbing and covers a total traveling distance of nearly 475 miles. Teams usually start the challenge with Ben Nevis, the highest, and for many participants, the most distant.
