AEI Offers Upgraded Alignment and Weld Stations for Customers with Limited Automation
Budgets
Wilmington, Massachusetts April 16, 2004 Automation Engineering
Incorporated (AEI) today announced that it has developed a series of
upgrades and enhancements to Newport LW4200 opto-electronic alignment
and laser welding stations and that these upgrades are available now
to AEI's customers.
" In the current economic climate, existing
second-hand automation tools such as the LW4200 can be purchased on
the open market for substantially less than new equipment from AEI
or others." Said Andre By, Chief Technology Officer at AEI. "However, these second-hand automation tools do not have the flexibility, capability,
and ease of adaptation to new or modified product manufacturing and
testing as new AEI equipment. To accommodate customers that either
already own existing automation equipment from others or are considering
buying these tools on the second hand market due to budgetary constraints,
AEI is now providing retrofits and upgrades to these existing automation
tools. These retrofitted and upgraded tools aren't as fully featured
as new AEI automation equipment but they do include many of the added
flexibility and capabilities of new AEI tools."
"The LW4200 retrofit/upgrade includes replacement
of existing LW4200 tooling with AEI designed interchangeable tooling
and fixturing to accommodate manufacturing a wider range of products
and components." Added Frank Leard, AEI Senior Process Engineer. "This new tooling incorporates AEi's quick-change kinematic structures to allow
elements of the fixturing to be quickly swapped out to support manufacturing
and/or testing different products on the same automation equipment.
We also replace the Newport machine control software with AEi's FlexAutoT
control software, incorporating our advanced alignment and re-bend
algorithms with multi-dimensional force feedback. This software has
been adopted by many organizations around the world to implement automated
manufacturing quickly and with high versatility."
